Nate Oglesbee
Elder
Nate and Pam recently celebrated 50 years of marriage and live in Greene County near Newark. They have been attending Westside since 2020. They have two boys who are married with families of their own in South Bend and Fishers. Both boys and their wives are believers.
Nate’s parents were both involved in lifelong ministry, including pastoring non- denominational fellowships for most of those years. This included periods of time as missionaries in New Mexico and in Mexico.
Nate describes himself as “raised on a church bench.” His heart was drawn towards the Lord at an early age, and he was baptized in a creek at the age of ten. He describes a crisis of faith in college as the “conversion date” for him. He remembers a time when, on his knees, he told God, “Even if I can’t logically defend it, I choose to believe.” He knew that he needed God and that he wanted to be His. God has honored that act of faith
Nate currently serves as a Wednesday night Bible study table leader, assists Pam in set up and clean up for the Wednesday night meals, and serves on the Senior Ministry leadership team.
Since retiring he has enjoyed keeping his mind active through extensive research in geopolitical issues, current news, societal trends and issues, and numerous other lines of inquiry. He describes himself as an inveterate DIY guy who expends a lot of effort researching how to do repairs and maintenance. He has also taken up woodturning and gardening.
